Time is of vital importance in today’s world. With a drastic increase of competition in every aspect of life, it is essential to utilize time wisely to thrive. There are so many distractions in today’s world that it becomes extremely easy to waste your precious time in unproductive activities. In order to avoid doing so, and leading a productive day, you must change yourself. Here are some useful tips to wake up early and crush the day by being as highly productive as you can possibly be:

1. Start A Bedtime Routine

It is a well known fact that in order to be productive, one must start early. Waking up early is quite a unpleasant prospect for many. A lot of people prefer staying late which makes it impossible for them to wake up early, fully energized. This has a major impact on their entire day, making them less productive. To ensure that you wake up early, eager to get started, it is important to create a bed time routine. If you start going to bed early, you will be able to wake up early, completely fresh and devoid of your tiredness.

Firstly, make sure that you stop using electronic gadgets, at least an hour before you want to sleep. The light from our laptops, tablets and cellphones hampers sleep. Read a book instead, or listen to some light music. Another thing to ensure that you wake up early is putting your alarm clock out of reach. Place it far away from your bed so that you have to get up from the bed to turn it off.

2. Set Your Goals for The Next Day

Before sleeping, go through the tasks that you want to accomplish the next day. Note them down to make sure you remember them. This will help you in waking up with your mind ready to accomplish these goals. Decide the night before regarding how you will accomplish all your tasks and after you wake up early, review those tasks again. Take a little time out to reflect how you want your day to be. Read some positive story or an inspirational article or quote to get yourself motivated.

3. Chunk Your Activities

We waste precious hours each day on mindless tasks and distractions such as playing games online, using Facebook, Twitter or Instagram etc. The best thing to do is to designate all such activities and tasks with pre-determined slots every day. For example, I will used social networking sites from 11 am to 11:30, I will start working on my projects from 11:30 to 1 and then I will take an hour for lunch etc. Create a schedule for everything. Tell yourself, you won’t miss any major event if you don’t check Facebook or your Instagram for a few hours. Your schedule should be such that you handle the most important tasks first and then move on to less important tasks and then finish off your day by tackling the least important ones.  If you still find yourself checking your social accounts every other minute, log out of all the accounts to reduce the urge to keep checking them. Change your password to a random code and don’t save your password on the device, so that you will have to type in a code every time you want to check, so that this will reduce your urge to keep checking your social networking account. It will be difficult at first, but eventually you will start following your pre-determined schedule.

4. Know Your Purpose And Reward Yourself On Achievements

Know your purpose and keep reminding yourself of what you want to accomplish in your life. When you have the urge to stay late in bed, remind yourself why you have to wake up early. If you have the urge to stay up late, remind yourself why you should go to bed early. Create an image of a successful you in your mind and relive it every time you find yourself wasting away your time. This will give you the motivation to keep yourself on the right track.

5. Have Healthy Food

Eating healthy is crucial to get the energy you will need throughout the day. Healthy food keeps one energized while junk food makes one drowsy. Have a hearty breakfast so that you have enough energy to last you till lunch. Have a lunch full of nutrition that will boost your energy. Eat dinner early so that your body has enough time to digest the food before you sleep. Eating healthy food will make you fit and strong to face all problems in an effective manner.

6. Meditate and Exercise

Meditation and exercise is crucial to boost productivity. You must take time out to exercise at least five times every week. You don’t have to go to a gym and go through a full work out; just a 30 minute walk/jog can keep you fit. You can also make little changes in your routine to ensure you are physically active like taking the stairs instead of the life or elevator, walking to the nearest store instead of driving etc. A healthy body means you have the energy, confidence and vigor to tackle all your tasks. Furthermore, meditation takes care of your mind. It is essential to clear your head of distraction and stress to achieve maximum productivity. When your mind is clear, you are able to make better decisions and work more efficiently. Take 5 to 7 minutes, two times a day, to close your eyes, relax and clear your mind. This will help you relax and you will be able to handle daily stresses in a better way.

7. Reward Yourself

Start rewarding yourself for your small achievements. If you have managed to go to bed early and have woken up early, then reward yourself with a small chocolate bar or any of your favorite desserts at lunch or dinner. If you have followed your schedule properly throughout the day, give yourself another treat like going to a spa or preparing yourself a long hot bath. This will keep you motivated and you will try harder to be more productive throughout the day and lead a successful life!
