Think Outside The Box or Crush the Box Business Planning

 In Uncategorized

outside-the-boxBusiness plans and duties tend to get monotonous with the passage of time. When this stage arises, it is time to think outside the box to get a successful idea. However, thinking outside the box may not be as easy as one anticipates.

We, as human beings, tend to become used to our routine life. Similarly, our brain also gets used to thinking through the same mental connections. In order to think outside the box, it is important to train your brain to look through a different perspective.

Here are a few tips you can use in order to train your brain to crush the box.

Get a Change of Scenery to Improve Perspective

In order to prepare your mind to think in another direction, try to get away from your daily routine for a while. Take a different route to work or jog on a new track for your daily workout. Brainstorming away from your routine scenes and locations can lead to a better perspective.

If you cannot come up with a creative solution to a problem, stop concentrating on it and distract yourself. Read a blog or article on something completely different to your problem, such as history or medicine or work on your latest hobby. Relax. Effective solutions come when the mind is sub consciously processing a solution. After all, Aristotle said Eureka while he was relaxing in a bath!

QUANTITY, Not Quality

Yes, you read right. When it comes to thinking outside the box, the quantity of ideas that come to mind matter. These ideas need to be different from your daily thoughts regarding work, etc. So, once you sit down and brainstorm, switch off your internal filter and list down every idea that comes to mind. You can fine-tune them later and you never know, maybe a great marketing strategy or business idea may crop out from a simple, seemingly unimportant thought.

A university professor once used this tactic in his marketing class where students were supposed to brainstorm for ideas. He put fifty one-dollar bills on his desk and asked his students to take one for the exchange of one idea, no matter how unimportant it seemed. This motivated quick thinking and usually, 50% of those ideas turned out to be highly feasible.

Look Outside for Feedback

Sometimes, taking perspective from people outside your field of expertise can give you great ideas. Talk to friends and family who do not have such a great know how about the technicalities involved in your business; they might give you the insight you are looking for!

These days, it is thinking outside the box that allows one to overcome the competition in the market. Being able to access this talent with respect to your work or business is something that cannot be overcome overnight. Use these tips to generate new ideas!
