How to Achieve Success in Business and Life
Ah, the biggest question on every one’s mind; how do I achieve success in business or in life. What’s the big secret that’ll propel me into superstardom, make me larger than life and improve my quality of life?
Truth be told, I used to search for how to achieve success and these same things back when I was in my junior year at College, and after going through a chunk of fancy words such as ‘commitment’ and ‘courage’, I finally gave it a rest with this conclusion; you cannot find the secret to a happy life sitting on your butt all day in front of the computer.
Rather, you had to find happiness within yourself. Sounds pretty cliché, doesn’t it? Happiness in yourself; I mean what does that even mean?
As time passed, all of those fancy advices started making sense. What I once thought was a bunch of jargon words affixed in a sentence now became my living guidelines. Most of what I may tell you may sound pretty useless from afar, but once you actually start understanding what I really mean is when you will start taking the first steps.
Believe in Yourself!
This is probably the most conventional advice you’ll receive in your entire life, and for good reason; it is the basic ingredient to success. You know why some college graduates struggle to find good jobs while high school dropouts such as Bill Gates are killing it on the playing field? It’s because they just don’t believe they are fit to make it huge. Even though the former has an obvious advantage in the form of a degree, a piece of paper will only do so much for you. When you believe you are able to achieve something grand, things will automatically run in your favor.
The biggest example of this is at the gym. You see people lifting 80 pound barbells on a single hand, yet you can only lift a fraction of that. Thinking about giving up? Remember that those who are able to achieve such feats of strength weren’t born with 18inch biceps. They were also puny at one point in time, but they believed they could achieve it, and eventually they did! Don’t just give up and run, keep at it!
Set Your Priorities Straight
The second piece of advice that I can give you is this; prioritize your priorities. Wait, another cliché again? This one is actually a little hard to understand, so stick with me. There’s this uncle of mine, let’s call him ‘Jack’. Now Uncle Jack was a quarterback at Arizona State back in the 80s, and was one of the top players in his league. Eventually, Uncle Jack fell in love, got married and had a son, all at the ripe age of 22. As a result, he had to a get a 9 to 5 job at Staples, and today, he still works there, though at a considerably higher position.
No, this isn’t going to be one of those stories where a young marriage ruins a blooming career. In fact, it’s the complete opposite; Jack is happier than almost everyone I have seen, never regretting what could have been; all because he set his priorities straight, preferring love over his career. To many people, that’ll sound like the worst move he ever made, but to him, he made the best move of his life.
The point is this, kids; everyone has different priorities, things that make them happy. You just need to choose what you want from life and aim for it. How you achieve success is different for everyone and we can help when you are ready.
