On Season 6 episode 24 of the Making Bank podcast, guest Barton Scott discusses the importance of your body’s minerals. If your mineral levels are imbalanced, it can lead to physical and mental symptoms that make it difficult to get through the day. Barton would know—it happened to him.
Barton’s Story
An athlete his entire life, Barton always took care of his body. He ate and slept well, but despite, he faced a big challenge in his 20s. You see, that was when Barton started having short-term memory problems, as well as intense fatigue, irritability, and other physical symptoms. He saw numerous doctors, and no one could tell what was wrong, until he had a hair test done. He found out that his mineral levels were extremely low, and this deficiency was making him sick, despite eating, drinking, and sleeping properly.
Barton could barely get through the day, and this was all because he had mineral deficiencies. When he started taking supplements, he felt like a new person.
What are Minerals?
Before we go any further, let’s talk about what minerals actually are. Minerals are small fragments of elements that can be found in the earth and in our food that help our bodies function normally. Minerals such as calcium, potassium, sodium, magnesium, and more are vital to our health. For example, calcium is necessary to build and strengthen our bodies, while iron helps us develop and grow. They impact all areas of our self, from body to brain to mood. If we are deficient in one or more, those areas will suffer. And in turn, so will your business.
Let’s break down how minerals influence how well our bodies, brains, and moods operate and what we can do to restore our mineral balance.
Minerals and Your Body
As an entrepreneur, you need to have good stamina. Between meetings, managing staff, and running the day-to-day of a company, if not multiple, your day fills up pretty quickly. Even more so, you usually have to be “on call” all the time when challenges arise. Therefore, it’s important to take care of your body, so that you can have the energy to take care of your business.
While we’ve already covered what calcium and iron do the for the body, there are other minerals that help keep you healthy. For example, zinc and copper have been found to help maintain eyesight. Magnesium aids in our energy levels. Additionally, having the right amount of minerals in your diet can ward off heart problems later on in life.
However, there’s something else to keep in mind. If you have a mineral deficiency, such as Barton did, your body will suffer. He references fatigue, constipation, and headaches as just some of the symptoms of a mineral imbalance. While none of these pains are life threatening, they do slow you down. They can be inconvenient, frustrating, or even upsetting—especially when they’re constant. That’s another thing too. As you cannot produce your own minerals, a deficiency can’t fix itself. You need to be intentional about treat your deficiency. However, if you’re unaware it exists, you’ll continue to have symptoms, and your body and business will continue to suffer.
Minerals and Your Brain
When you’re the founder of a company, you have to make a lot of decisions. Every day, you must choose a path, tackle an issue, or push forward in a new direction. Sometimes, your decisions are small—sometimes they’re life changing. Either way, you need to be at your A game when making a business decision.
However, it’s hard to be at your A game all the time. Sometimes, you’re tired. You may feel burned out. Like Barton, you may experience terrible brain fog that eventually leads to poor memory. This could be a sign of a mineral deficiency. Minerals like magnesium and zinc help sharpen your mind and ward off memory problems, as well as benefit your body and organs, as previously mentioned.
Brain fog isn’t fun for anyone. When you’re running a company, it’s even more dangerous. Your decisions impact not just yourself, but your livelihood and the livelihood of others. So, let’s stay sharp and healthy by making sure we get the appropriate levels of minerals.
Minerals and Your Mood
Did you know a mineral imbalance can impact your mood? According to Barton, an overload of iron or a deficiency of magnesium can lead to moodiness. You may be quick to anger, less patient, and overall, lack mood regulation.
Your likeability as an entrepreneur is important to your and your business’s success. In order to network, manage a team, and even acquire funding, you will want to be trustworthy, patient and amenable. Whether you like it or not, your personality can impact how far you can take your business. So, if your minerals are balanced – or not – you may see that reflected in your revenue.
If you test yourself using services like Upgraded Formula, you can learn what your body needs. In doing so, you can remedy any pains you may have, or problems you may not know exits. As Barton says, you will find that you don’t have to struggle through the day, through work, or even through life the way you may feel sometimes. By taking care of your mineral levels, you will start to feel sharper, more energetic and even calmer as a person. And when you, your body, and your brain are at your best, your business will reflect that.
In a way, your minerals help you make bank. Prioritize them, and you will make even more bank.
